Chicken or egg? Yarn or Model? Which one comes first??
I believe us crafters can be divided in two: the ones who feel inspired by an image or model to pick up their needles OR the ones who get their creative juices flowing by looking at and touching a yarn, which – sometimes like a flash – conjures up an image of a jumper, shawl, or at times even less expected items. Hybrids exist as well, but even amongst those, still 1 trait tends to be developed much stronger than the other.
As for myself, I’ve been trying very hard to fall into the first category. Why? It keeps my yarn stock tidy. 🙂 I love and still cling to the idea of only ever buying exactly the yarn needed for a particular, pre-chosen project. Needless to say, I’ve failed miserably. I keep seeing yarn that inspires me and then try to find a model that comes as close as possible to the image in my head.
This jumper here is an example of my few successes in creating something I “saw” in my mind before searching for the model.
To which group of the crafters do you belong?
